Instagram Automations stopped / not working

If your Instagram AutoDM isn’t working as expected, don’t worry—this guide walks you through the most common reasons why Instagram automations may stop working and how to fix them.

1. Automations work only on eligible posts

AutoDM will only trigger when your post meets these conditions:

  • ✅ Is a Post, Reel, Story, or Instagram Live

  • ✅ Shared to All Followers or a Public audience

  • ❌ Not shared or reposted content

  • ❌ Not shared to Close Friends

  • ❌ Not a boosted (promoted) post

  • ❌ Not a trial reel


2. Conflicts with other automation tools

If you’re using multiple tools (e.g., ManyChat, or any other Instagram automation platform) connected to the same account or specific post, AutoDM may not work.

  • Instagram detects conflicts and may block automations entirely.

  • Running multiple tools also increases the risk of account restrictions from Meta.

To ensure reliability, remove all other tools from your account and use only one automation tool (AutoDM) per account/post.


3. Account disconnection issues

Sometimes AutoDM stops because your Instagram account got disconnected from SuperProfile. This usually happens if:

  • 🔑 You recently changed your Instagram password

  • 👤 You updated your Instagram username

In both cases, AutoDM loses access. You’ll need to reconnect your account inside SuperProfile > AutoDM settings.


4. Reply delays are normal

If you notice a delay in AutoDM replies, don’t worry. This is intentional and part of how Instagram allows safe automation. Meta rate-limits comment replies to prevent spam.

  • There’s no action required from your side.

  • Replies will still go out—just not instantly.


5. Final troubleshooting step

If none of the above apply and AutoDM still isn’t working, check your Instagram settings:

  1. Open the Instagram app

  2. Go to:
    Settings > Messages and Story Replies > Message Requests

  3. Enable: Allow Access to Messages under Connected Tools

⚠️ Without this permission, AutoDM cannot send messages on your behalf.
